A Sensory Archive: Bespoke Commissions by Kate Morrison
Art is at its most powerful when it acts as a quiet companion to your daily life. My commission service is an invitation to collaborate on a sensory archive - a bespoke abstract expressionist piece built from the fragments, textures, and memories that define your world.
The Process: Instinct and Intention
Drawing on my background in textile design, I approach each canvas as a deliberate construction. We begin with the warp and weft of your inspiration: the rhythm of a specific landscape, the architectural details of an urban corner you love, or the emotional palette of your interior space.
Whether we are layering industrial hues from a childhood city or capturing the weathered surfaces of a significant moment in time, the resulting work is a sensory construction designed to hold space for reflection.
A Contemporary Artefact for Your Home
Each commission is a one-of-a-kind exploration of place and memory. These are not merely decorative objects; they are contemporary artefacts that resonate on a guttural level - abstract, yet real. They offer a quiet presence that connects your past, present, and the overlooked beauty of your surroundings.
Every commission is entirely customized to your life, location, and interior style.
Pricing is available upon application.

'Loyal Lands' 90x90cm Mixed Media on Wood
Commision Testimonial
'We first saw some of Kate's paintings in a gallery in St Ives whilst on holiday. They were quite captivating and we felt a real connection to them, but unfortunately the pieces would not have been quite right for any of the available wall spaces in our home. I noted down her details and nearly six months later I finally got the time to message Kate, via her website, to enquire about a commission for an empty wall space in our lounge. We'd never quite been able to find anything that we felt would work well there before.
Kate came to our home to discuss the space and what we felt would work for the room. I knew we needed quite a large artwork that could hold its own; and we talked about colours, movement and our passions in life that could feed into the piece. "Loyal Lands" is the most beautiful piece of artwork that we could've hoped Kate could create for our home. It sits perfectly in its space and has the level of impact I had hoped for, without being too overpowering. Some days it makes me think of a strong, rainy weather front moving through, and other days it makes me feel the calm of Monet's water lilies. Kate is such a warm person and made the whole process completely joyful, even whilst juggling the demands of a busy family of five. We couldn't be happier and we'll be keeping an eye on any future works that we may not be able to resist bringing into our home!'
